We have a trio of bantam CSHs and just hatched out 13/13. Successful rooster :) It appears, to me, that we have silvers, golds and citron chicks.

I know that the spangling is tricky genetics- a little over my head. And I know that I could have all kinds of hidden genetics from the original breeder (though *he* appears reputable).

What should we expect for chicks? Will the spangling stay true but the color vary? Could we see some pencilling pattern in the mix?

I have read through some other "citron genetics" threads and never really got to the crux of MY questions.

Thanks! (And in thanks, I leave you with chick pictures!)

How did your chicks turn out? I used to go to One Earth Farms and tried to contact them twice to find out about hatching eggs for the Citrons but never heard back. I decided to breed them myself but had my Gold Pencilled Hamburg chicks substituted out by McMurray hatchery twice, also. So I bred my Golden Campine roo to Silver Spangled hens which resulted in a gold, penciled color w/ some black spots on the head/necks. I now have chicks that were bred from these hens with a Silver Spanged roo. They are young so I don't have adult plumage yet but have my fingers crossed. What I do know is they are smart! Just like their parents. Please let me know about your chickens and if you might have hatching eggs. Thanks!
