Civey (civet) Cat

Why can't you raise them? do you need a permit or something? They are so beautiful. Wow you have a lot of cool animals! i wish I could have so many cool animals.

Because the spotted skunks are endangered, you can not take them from the wild to domesticate.

Oh. well could you still raise them not as pets but as like rescueing/rehibilitating wild ones like injured or orphaned or whatever like that Animal Planet show Growing Up blank (insert animal name here).

LOCALLY people here call them civey cats, they are spotted skunks. THere are a few different types of skunks and all have different markings; and within each type the striping varies from animal to animal.

I love the Civey cats!!! they really are not agressive, but will eat eggs or birds. It is one predator that I will tolerate around our farm.

This one - a male was not really ticked off, he was just curious who woke him up.

I wish we would be allowed to raise them! THey are smaller than the striped skunks that we raise now.

Around here we call them Pole Cats
