Hi - I have researched, but not found clarity on the true timeline of hatching. When it is noted that an egg hatches in 28 days/35 days -- is that for pipping or actually live ducklings (hopefully)? If I read/understand correctly, a duckling may take 24-48 hours to get out of the shell - hence my question.

By calculation, my one Pekin hen/Muscovy drake egg should hatch July 10th (32 days). The remaining 9 Muscovy/Muscovy eggs on July 13th (35 days). When should I be extra watchful? I am not able to keep the other ducks away as we only have one enclosure to keep predators out and I am letting nature take precedence for hatching. IF the pekin/Muscovy hatches first and the hen takes off the nest with it, I plan to have a temporary incubator ready for the Muscovy eggs- - just curious as to when I should be ready. I tested it for temp a bit ago and am comfortable it is ok
I see dark "feathers" in the eggs and the hen has been diligent to eliminate non-fertile eggs. We are still at 10 eggs, but time will tell

thank you in advance for insights
