One of the best county fairs around, particularly if you like poultry exhibits. Brian Cather, a vet in Northern Virginia, supervises the activities. All birds are treated with care, and the show is run properly, and they have a great group of birds this year.

I love going to fairs, because I can often find one of the carriers that I have made in use. A lot of the crates that I sell are never used for carrying chickens! Some are used in retail displays and others just for home decoration. Hey, I build these crates to be used. This crate was made in 2010 and it looks better than the day it was made. Owner said it has transported his birds to shows as far away as New York. That's what I like to hear.
Another feature of the Clarke County Fair is its family friendly atmosphere. The best example is Young MacDonald's Farm.

Kids love to have their picture taken while standing behind one of the farm characters. There will be live animals in the building too for your kids to pet. It doesn't get more family friendly than that. See you there. Aug. 12th through the 17th

Tickled to see this thread as my mother is from Clarke County and I was raised just across the Shenandoah in a neighboring county. Used to go to the Clarke Co. Fair all the time when I was a kid. Would love to get a chance to see it this year, will have to check to see how long it runs.

BTW, your carriers are beautiful. A real work of craftsmanship.

Even though it is only a small county fair, it offers a lot and runs for an entire week till Saturday, the 18th. Animals are picked up on Sunday.
Lots of great exhibits, and live entertainment nightly. Still I go for the poultry, a great show.

They have an advanced incubator set up in the poultry building. I've seen chickens hatching
many times, but it is still facinating to watch. Check it out.
