DH and I are huge classic rock fans: Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Van Halen, Bob Seger, "Uncle" Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Autograph, Boston, Pat Benatar, Aerosmith, the Beatles, The Eagles, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Tom Petty, Meat Loaf, Eric Clapton, Bad Company, older Sammy Hagar stuff ... probably more that I haven't mentioned
When I worked at McDonald's, a college friend of mine and I often got stuck working the late shift. Since we had a lot of time on our hands between potheads-with-munchies, drunks-trying-to-sober-up, lost tourists looking for the casino in Mt. Pleasant (5 counties away), she and I would often gab about music. One day she asked, "If you could bring back any band with the original members, which would it be?"
While I thought about it, she said "And don't say Van Halen!"
"Fine," I retorted. "Montrose."
You should get this joke if you're a true classic rock fan.
DH played bass guitar in a number of bands in the Great Lakes area and actually turned down an offer to be a studio musician. He's met some famous people--he's jammed with Rush up at the Soo, met Ozzy in Battle Creek and attended a party hosted by Ted Nugent. I keep having to remember to put "Nugent" at the end since he's almost a god here in Michigan.
