Clean coop after worming?

I intend to de-worm my 3 chooks over the weekend as I've spotted some round worms in their poop but am concerned about reinfection. I move their run to a new spot of grass each day and I can move the coop around for about 2 weeks before they sit on the same area again. So the ground should be clear of worm eggs or is it possible some eggs may have survived the two weeks?

Also, do I need to do a thorough clean of the nesting boxes, shaving and perches so any droppings carrying worms of eggs are eliminated?

Hello,

I would strongly suggest you first clean one area or location for you run. I would do this as it will provide one location for you chickens to stay throughout the cleaning process. After this is done, I would then remove the chickens from the run and isolate them in your garage or other area while you completely clear-out and clean your coop. Firstly, you will want to remove any waste and/or bedding which may trap waste. Once this is done you should wipe down the interior of the coop with a disinfectant product, such as bleach, to kill any eggs which may remain. Once the coop has dried overnight you will want to rinse the coop heavily, to remove any remaining bleach, before allowing it to completely dry once again. Lastly, you should reapply new bedding to the coop and nesting boxes before reintroducing the chickens to the clean environment.

P.S. you should isolate the chicks in a garage setting as you can monitor their feed/water consumption while treating with a de-worming product. If you don't do this the chickens will simple reinfect their clean environment. Also...make sure you don't move the run for about a month to allow any worms in other areas of your yard to die...

Would DE work well in this situation too? Sprinkle it around the new cleaned out area and put it in their food to help with any internal parasites.

Can anyone tell me how long after deworming one waits to then completely clean out the coop and run? I have just complete the second round and was going to wait two days but not sure.. thanks
