Clean Coop=Clean Nest=Clean Eggs That Don't Need Washing

If other animals have been eating everything raw or stuff that doesn’t mean it’s 100% safe for humans to do that too. Very low but still a chance
Of course, you are right. There is a chance of dangerous germs from kissing your dog, your baby, your friend....

In my case, getting clean eggs from the nest boxes just isn't going to happen. Here in the UK it is very wet most of the year so clean chicken feet are unheard of.

Personally I have always washed my eggs (except for ones put aside for hatching) as they are generally consumed within a week.
If I hear of someone dying from an egg being washed then my view on the topic may change but in the meantime I will be continuing to wash every single egg, even if it is already visibly clean.

I feel like the title of this thread is a bit misleading.

Anyway, I've expressed my thoughts. End if story

Ok, ok, folks! Don't kiss your eggs if you fear salmonella!!! I will continue to give mine a little peck of joy as I carry them in at daybreak! I kiss my dog, too, and dogs roll in and eat poop. Don't kiss your dog if you fear salmonella. Don't kiss your baby, either. Children are little germ magnets.
Wash your eggs if you want, but read up on how washing, especially soaking, can push bacteria right through the porous shell. By law, you don't have to wash nest run eggs according to the Federal Code. You might have to in your state.
Sheesh! All I wanted to say is that a clean nest produces clean eggs. Over and Out. Don't need this. Bye. Going outside to play with my clean chickens and maybe kiss all of them. And a dog or two.

Well, getting Salmonella from eggs is actually quite rare. It's 1 in 1, million eggs.

This is based on Salmonella outbreaks caused by commercial egg farms, & packing facilities.

I'm just wondering how to train chickens to use all the nest boxes available? Mine decide on which one to lay in if there's already an egg in there or if one nest box is occupied by a broody muscovy (that you are trying your best to break). But, sometimes they don't care if it's occupied. They are going to squeeze in there. 🤣
