Clean eggs??

Hmmm, this is interesting. I didn't know this. Our chicken eggs are usually pretty clean but the ducks are horrible! They get so gross that I've been scrubbing them with soapy water.

Pick up droppings in the coop and nesting area as often as you can. I have one old hen that sleeps in one of the nesting boxes, so every morning I clean that area out so when the others lay, the eggs are clean.

During the rains, with all the mud, its harder to keep eggs clean because of dirty little chicken feet. I take a damp paper towel to those eggs.

I have the occassional dirty egg, usually younger hens are not as clean as older. I have found that the magic eraser sponges (I use WalMarts brand) are super awesome and quick too. Just wet the sponge and squeeze out excess, then rub over the dirty area usually it somes right off, if it is a bog glob then it may take a couple rubs. You aren;t running water over the whole egg either. Then I wipe them with a dry paper towel.
