Clean out tray

I have plenty of questions and you seem to have much wisdom to offer...how about a "ask elderoo" topic...your in box would overflow!!

Not me. I dont know much. You would surely open a can of worms by pursuing that line...What we need is a "Ask pat and chickens" forum.

What about the fleas that come with sand? Isn't that a concern? Has anyone that uses sand noticed any flea problems?

We're talking about contractors sand or what some might call playground sand. This is sand that has been mined, washed and so on.
The fleas life cycle would have been broken or non-exitant in the first place. Fleas need a host. Break that part of the cycle before you add chickens. That is your goal, whatever sand you get.

I use sand and have never had a problem with fleas in it. I clean it daily like you would a kitty litter box. Plus I mix in some stall dry once every 2 weeks.

i was thinking of just laying down newspaper on my dropping board(when i get it built..

)..like i do for my parrot..and daily(like when you collect the eggs)..just roll the paper up..lay down another layer....
