Cleaned up all my coops with some white powder for the mites and some spray that kills ticks and fleas. After all that I get a bucket of water with pine sol and splash it all over the coop. Once it's all done the chickens love to bath on the moist dirt.

Sounds like you had a good day cleaning and taking care of the pests

Whew! Thats a lot of work, did you have a pest problem? I'm trying to decide if I need to do something like that for prevention. I don't seem to have a problem with anything other than mice. Constant battle.

My chickens are one yrs old so I was going to do a whole clean out before winter. The coop walls have some poopy splatter on the painted walls, whats a nontoxic cleaner to get that off, will pine sol do it?

I just cleaned my Coop yesterday and took out all shavings I was using with them as Chicks and converted back to sand...I use a wire brush with bleach and water to scrub off poop on walls and roosts...I sprinkle Dusting powder on Roosts and outside edges inside my coop...

Lots of work but the 11 ladies are very happy with the efforts I put in to keep them healthy and bug free!

Cheers to Chicken keeping!

How often should I be cleaning my roost? I wipe off poopy splats on the painted wall when I find them, but my roosting bars are driftwood my husband found on our property. They've got a little dried poop on them that I can't scrape off when I poop scoop every day. What's the best way to clean unpainted wood?
