Cleaning an aquarium for a brooder

I'm using a big aquarium for a brooder, with a lid, and I'm wondering what is safe to clean it with. I used to have a turtle living in it, and I know they can carry somenella, but I also know that birds have repetory issues, so what is safe to clean it with?

I used antibacterial soap/rinse/rinse then vinegar/rinse/rinse and then sun to dry. Hope that helps
