Cleaning / disinfectant

All I was wondering is what people use to clean their duck coops, just a general question to hear people’s thoughts! My duck coops have very good ventilation thank you and I personally don’t have a problem with mould or mildew but was wondering what people would use to clean it to be prepared incase I came across some. I was only looking to see what disinfectant if any people use. Especially with cases of bird flu in England and bird having to be housed indoors throughout the whole uk by the 14th dec

@Janetmaclean11 Glad to hear you are preparing for potential hazards, not engaged in active remediation! Good luck on duck move, hope the order is lifted quickly.

When I have my ducks in the barn (I have a diy grow out pen out of pvc and plastic netting which can be disassembled when not needed), I put a cheap tarp under it to speed eventual clean up and to keep spent stuff from being mixed with my flooring material (crushed recycled concrete). The tarp is overkill, but I was out of plastic drop cloths.

For just cleaning dirt and stuff (not mold/mildew), OxyClean and hot water, plus a stiff brush, works well too. The OxyClean basically makes Hydrogen Peroxide, but it also contains surfactants which help with getting the dirt to separate from whatever its attached to.

I just shovel out all dirty bedding early in the day, scrape walls if needed, and wait until evening (hoping to let walls and floor dry as much as possible), then toss in bedding.

I prefer wood chips/shavings as bedding.
