Cleaning duck coop

Yes I understand. I care a lot for my ducks and I like keeping it clean. I only have 2 ducks so it doesn’t get as dirty as fast. I will do as you suggest and make sure it’s always clean for them. Don’t worry about being offensive! I appreciate the help!
Well I have a lot more than 2 more like 80 due to showing and running a breeding business but I clean everyone's pens and coops everyday for cleanliness and to make sure nothing can get packed into the ducks feet causing bumble foot because you have not lived until you have treated 20 birds for a week everyday because a flock had a small case of it and didn't want it to spread or get worse. But defiantly I use line shavings instead of straw because straw doesn't absorb very well.

Her straw decomposes inside their coop? Does she have a dirt floor. I use deep litter but since I have wood floor with vinyl over. So I go in an scoop all wet places up daily take this out and put it in places in the birds half acre over time it breaks down into nice useable bedding for flower beds and vegetable beds. I use wood shavings.

Every day you have to clean it if you use deep liter or not. I know @Miss Lydia does the same as me. Honestly, it doesn't take that long. I have 10 ducks and it takes me 10 minutes at the most each morning and it's done! I throw the poopy hay out of the pen and add more hay as I need to about every couple of days.

Exactly! That's what I do too. It's so easy and really doesn't take that long to do to keep them clean and dry.

Honestly I clean pens everyday yes it says up time but it's better to keep it clean then pick the laz y route. Not trying to be offensive

I use hay (because it's free for me) and every single morning after I let my 10 runners out I clean their pen. I take a garden fork and gently put it under each poop pancake and get it out of the pen. Since ducks have the webbies they mostly flatten it down pretty good so it's very easy to do. It probably takes me 10 minutes at the most daily.

Their pen is then closed up until the time when I put them to bed. I don't want snakes slithering into the pen during the day.
That’s a good idea. today i cleaned it and bought some barn lime. today i cleaned it completely- i rake all the straw out and then pick it up and put it in a trash bag. Since i don’t clean it every few days I will sprinkle some barn lime and cover it with some more straw so it doesn’t smell. But i’m what you do is a good idea. I will start trying that out!

That is what I do, works great for me!

All of these are great ideas! I have dirt floor so I thought it would decompose. But it was getting pretty stinky pretty fast. I will now start cleaning it at least once a week so its nice and clean for them.

I know this is older but the problem remains the same. I have 3 ducks. They have a 16x32 outside area with a pool and a 16x32 covered area with a closed in “house” area and an area just for water bowls. I have an area set up with just pea gravel where the pool/water bowls are and I hose them down daily. Even still, it seems my pea gravel is just full cuz it’s not really washing away anymore. It’s winter so it’s pretty soggy out there anyway cuz we’ve had lots of rain and some snow this year. They have a very large inside dry area which really is not a problem….its just the wet areas I struggle with. Any suggestions?
