Hi,
Our cochins have just started laying again and we were going to try to hatch some to check fertility.
We have had tons of rain and even with hay in their pens they have a was of being more muddy than a clean legged breed. So when they lay their eggs are more messy even though they have hay to lay in.
Is there anyway to clean the eggs to help with hatch?
Maybe a light sandpaper? instead of wetting them?
Any and all suggestions appreciated,
Take care,
Angela

Try Mr Clean Magic Eraser, yes you wet it, but I have done that forever and have had great hatches.

dry sandpaper, it works. If real dirty with mud , wash them with warm water,no soap....better to wash them than set muddy eggs. I try not to wash hatching eggs, some cases you have too. Set right after washing them.....
