Cleaning Eggs

This has probably been asked already but: If I wipe my eggs with a dry cloth will this wipe off that protective covering that is around the egg.

Thanks for the info, most my eggs come out clean but there are those few that just a little rubbing will get the dirt off. Now I'll look at it in a whole different way, I won't tell my kids or they won't help me clean my eggs.
 
LOL! I think that layer of slime on a just laid egg is more of a lubricant to make it pass the hen's vent easily, than it is any kind of protective covering. Rinsing it off or even scrubbing it with a brush to remove poo stains doesn't seem to make any difference in storage time or hatchability.
