I have 12 call duck eggs and wanted to do an experiment. I left 6 of the eggs unwashed, I washed 6 of the eggs in a 50-50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water with a wetted paper towel. I put a green dot on the end of each washed egg. I marked them with non-toxic Crayola markers. Last night was day 7 and I candled them to show you all 12 are fertile and progressing. I will keep you updated! :)

Tomorrow at noon is day 14. All 12 eggs are still alive. :)

Out of 12 call duck eggs, I have 8 live ducklings! 4 washed and 4 unwashed. I did assist because they are call ducks so I'm going to also do washed chicken eggs next.

Those are the cutest ducklings I've ever seen :love I love their color variation. I've only ever seen the white call ducks. What do your adults look like?

Your experiment mirrors my experiences. I haven't seen a huge difference one way or the other. If an egg is clean I throw it in as is. If it's nasty but I want to hatch that specific egg then I wash it first. I've read about various sprays and dips online. I've tried a couple. Didn't notice a big difference there either.

Congratulations on your newest hatch. They're adorable!

I just started with call ducks. But my other nine are now feathered out, I'll have to get an updated picture. ;) I've gotten these and another 5 as hatching eggs, my other 4 I got from a Wisconsin hatchery. :)
