Cleaning molted feathers to make a cat toy

My good friend has a cat who loves to play with feathers. I have chickens who are currently molting, so I've been collecting some of the nice feathers. How do I clean them - or do I need to - before giving them to my friend? She has a method of attaching the feathers to a wand to make the toy, and she just has to keep replacing the feathers once the cat catches the feather too many times. TIA.

If the feathers look clean, I might just show them to her and ask if she thinks they are acceptable this way.

If the feathers have obvious dirt or poop on them, of course cleaning would be a good idea. But if you were picking up feathers like that, I don't think you would have said you were collecting the "nice" feathers
