I was given 3 used Hovabators and need some ideas on how to clean and sterilize them please. 2 of them look to be in decent working condition but very dirty looking, 1 has a big hole melted into the top so it's only good for parts(hopefully something can be salvaged).
Can they be taken apart and cleaned up and then put back together? If so, how do I do that? Is it even worth it, or should I scrap all 3? How do I sanitize/disinfect them? Should I plug them in and test them to be sure they even work b4 I bother cleaning them?... TIA

I got a freebie, too, and just took everything apart except for the heating element and cleaned it in the shower. This video helped me makre sure I had the screen and water reservoir back in the right spot.

When I got it, the large space-ship looking disk wasn't attached, but it just screwed back on. I've found it to be pretty stable with temperature, once I found the sweet spot. I stabilized it for weeks before putting in my first ever eggs, but what I didn't test before hand, was my egg-turning method of tipping the whole incubator at alternating 45-degree angles. Something about being at an angle triggers the heating element to be in constant heat mode. About six hours after setting the eggs, I checked and the temp was at 109.

Good luck with yours!
