Cleaning up for a show - can't get her white! Ideas?

Your welcome. People don't realize how much work it is to show white birds especially feather footer ones. They think because they are only one color they will be easier that couldn't be more wrong. It's like a white car they always look dirty, but when you get it figured out nothin looks better. I don't now how much time you have til your show but if there is time try the bluing I think it will help a lot. How does she look now feather condition wise?

Tried the blueing shampoo last night, but it didn't clear the yellowing. Plus I let it sit for about 5 minutes . . . . .yeah, now there's a very, very faint blue/purple tinge in just the right light *sigh*

Show is tomorrow. The feathers themselves looked better yesterday at bedtime. I'll try the vitamin oil idea and just see. It's a shame because her type is nice but this yellowing will surely keep her from doing well.

I'm a colorist & I also have white birds.

Color 101 ---- look at a color wheel. The Opposite of Yellow is Violet. If you use blue, it will show as a pigment. The violet if only used on the yellow should simply cancel the yellow out leaving pure white.

The only way to get rid of the blue hue is to shampoo again. Is it still bluish after she's dry?

Call your colorist if you have one. She/he may be able to mix you a Violet pigmented shampoo. Use it only on the areas that are yellow. Slightly dampen the yellow spots first, apply pigment, check it in a minute then rinse. The yellow should be more porous because of the bleach. If your salon can't help you, PM me.

I may be on the right track with your help tgrlily, the shampoo I used last night was purple/violet tinted -- WOO HOO, I may have gotten something right in this crazy week

I'll try again tonight, but only putting the shampoo on the yellowed areas. Thank goodness the other three birds going are blue & black, they're already to go!
