If I am getting my chicken ready for a fair or a show, how would I clean the mud off of her feathers.

Bucket of warm soapy water (I used childrens shampoo in case things got splashy)
Bucket of warm clean water

Put chicken in first bucket. Gently swish water around her.
Put chicken in second bucket. Gently swish water around her.

Wrap in towel. Blow dry if she will tolerate it.

Put in cage and keep away from dirt. (The first thing she'll want to do is dust bathe... MUD)

Do this a couple of days before the show so she has time to preen and get her feathers shiny and sorted.
