1) What type of bird , age and weight. ~ 8 Weeks Old this Sat, SLW
2) What is the behavior, exactly. ~ Normal
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? ~ Just noticed this evening
4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. ~ Nope
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. ~ Got Excited? We were changing out their leg bands
6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. ~ Medicated starter, water with ACV, had grapes a couple days ago and shared a tomato with her coop-mates this evening
7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. ~ Clear liquid. It would bead up on her "butt fluff" when it came out
8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? ~ None
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? ~ Treat Myself
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. ~ Sorry, I don't
11) Describe the housing/bedding in use ~ New coop. Storage building style divided into "stalls" Pine shavings
We were changing the leg bands on the girls this evening when DH picked up Pandora and said she pooed on his hand. I looked and she was "pooping out" a clear liquid. When it would hit the fluff on her butt it beaded up and rolled off. Everything else about her is normal. She's only 2 months, so it couldn't be a broken egg or egg bound could it?
ETA: They're not exactly friendly yet, so catching them is a process of chasing them around the coop and grabbing whoever you can. Could be a little "traumatic."
