I am trying to get a few Mearns quail and I found a website called Cleaveland Quail. I am wondering if this is a reputable breeder and If not what is a reputable breeder that sells Mearns quail?

I ended up not, since I decided to go with Gambel’s quail since I’m a beginner in quail and ended up buying locally. But if you plan to buy I would recommend to buy locally through Craigslist or Facebook, and local/ state poultry auctions are a great place to find quail breeds especially mearns. I plan to buy some mearns in the near future though. Best of luck to you 👍

I've bought hatching mountain quail eggs from Cleveland Quail, and they arrived safely and weren't a scam.
They’re a total scam. Do not buy from Cleveland quail. Mainly Quail or Scott O’Brien tours his farm and his birds are much healthier. The eggs you get from Cleveland hatch deformed because they’re inbred birds in his garage. Do not purchase from that place. Terrible, terrible quality and even worse packaging.

Source: I just hatched 16 eggs I bought from him. Most arrived smashed, and the surviving chicks are blind with deformities. Will likely have to put some down.

I agree with that person. I purchased birds and eggs and more than half have severe genetic issues. I am very experienced with quail, chickens and many other types of fowl. The birds I received and hatched have curled toes that never straighten, splayed legs, blindness, unable to stand or walk, crooked/wry neck and some things that in my 30 plus years of hatching and raising birds thT I have never even seen before. Some of these problems like the neck, toe and legs issues I have rarely seen and been able to treat. Even with throwing the kitchen sink none of these issues are correcting. I have consulted close friends in the veterinary industry and for many culling was recommended. I can count on one hand the number of birds I have even thought about culling because their issues were that bad. I have raised thousands. Something is wrong with the genetics of this guys birds. I will never recommend anyone purchase from Cleveland quail. I recognize bad genetics and farming when I see it and these birds are exactly that.
