I just recieved my pigeons yesterday, 17 of them, i was wondering about the change in climate, the pigeons came from Nevada and im all the way up in Maine, these birds are use to 60-70 degree days, we are having warm spell right now up here so its around 40 degrees. But will drop back down to 15 degrees and colder win a few days. My original birds do just fine in the cold temps even at 30 below zero. Will these birds be fine acclimating to the new temps? Since there is 17 of them will thay stay warm enough till they acclimate? Do i need to heat them for a short time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

How are your birds doing? I hope all is well! That is a pretty steep drop in temps. I got my first 8 birds one year ago when it was in the minus teens, -12 to -15ish, but they were local. Best wishes and Happy Holidays!:)

Birds are doing well! The warm spell we had sure made things easier for them! They seemed a little annoyed with the cold weather back on but are acting like normal pigeons. They mixed breeds most are figurita mixed with german owls or blondettes, some figurita German beauty mixes.

Birds are doing well!
I never had that experience of importing birds from a warmer climate to a weather at times equal to what we have in Canada. I thought they would do well. I also thought those beaks looked short (German Owl influence).

I am glad you shared your experience with us. Thank you.
