My 6 RIR got out their fenced in coup area and our fenced in yard into the neighbors party. I knew I should clipped their feathers but after this I had to- so I read up on it and cut their feather this morning- I clipped them just as the directions said on one wing but all but one can still fly. What do I do now? Do I clip the other wing? Clipp them shorter?

They must be young still, my RIR's are way too heavy to get of the ground.

I have an SSH that we can't keep in a run. Her wings have been clipped severly but she still flies over the 6' fence like its nothing.

How funny! I had that exact experience just today. For the first time ever, I clipped the wings of an 18 week old Blue Orpington pullet who did NOT want to be in the grown-up Blue Orp pen with her new hubby and his first wife, LOL. She kept flying out and I need her not to get hurt, so I did it, reluctantly. She still flew over a gate that is 5'4" tall. Ok, back for a closer trim. She hasn't gotten out since. And yes, I clipped both wings for good measure on my officially "non-flying" breed, LOL.
