Clipping chicken flight feathers? How to??

I got the two hens today and let them out in our backyard then to find out they can fly!! They flew onto the fence on the neighbors yard but then flew to the other fence on the other side of my yard!! I couldn't believe it but I was so scared! We finally got her but how do I clip flight feathers?? I looked it up youtube but I wonder what happens if I clip to far down I don't like the thought of that.!.!.! Please help and thank you

Welcome to BYC! If you clip too far down, not only will it cause pain to the bird, but it will leave the area open for infection. On the other hand, if you don't clip far enough down, you are wasting your efforts. Also, you only need to clip one wing.
