Clipping feathers

Not at all! We once lived in the same situation! They once all flew over the fence and were in the neighbor's driveway near a busy road! We clipped them for their own safety, and it wouldn't be mean for you to do the same.

Sad? I don't think so, but maybe a bit perplexed at the moment. Confused because suddenly they can't fly. Sad, confused, either way - it's better than them getting out and getting killed, isn't it? To me it's less cruel (really, not "cruel" at all in my opinion) to protect them by clipping wings, than letting them get out and get killed - or worse yet, not killed, just wounded and suffering.
