I am going to be clipping my Parakeets wings.

I know how to hold her, and I know that you clip the first 6 feathers, and I know where to clip them. I just need to know, do I clip both? Or just one? I know that with chickens you just clip one. Anybody know? I plan on doing it today, so answers soon would be appreciated! Thanks so much!!!

You clip both.

The reason you clip both from what I heard I think it's because it throws them off balance if they do try to fly, which could be bad if they start out high, like from your shoulder.

Yes, that's basically it. "Cage birds" typically start their flight from high up (i.e. top of cage), while most poultry start from the ground. You clip one wing for poultry because going off-balance from the ground isn't very far to land, but leaping off a cage and unexpectedly curving sharply will cause some damage.
