Is there anyone in the Savannah, GA area that is good at clipping wings? I have a Muscovy and another duck (not sure of the breed) and I need their wings clipped. Willing to pay the right person.

Thanks, I have looked that up before and you are right it looks simple. I guess I would just feel better watching someone do it once before I attempt it myself. I do not want to hit any of the blood vessels in the feathers.

If they have light colored feather shafts, you can see the blood in them. It is very simple; I've clipped the wings of all my calls. You don't want to clip them while they are still growing out...b/c that's when they will have blood in them...but if you wait till they are mostly grown (not quite fully...but close), then you can clip with no problems. I still check the shafts of my calls' feathers before clipping them though (on the black ones they have some white feathers...so I just checked the white ones...they all grow at a similar rate), just to make sure there's no blood.

That will work with my Mucovy but the other duck (breed unknown) is all black feathered, I worry about trimming her feathers and they are just at the age that it needs to be done.
