A friend of mine told me that I needed to clip one wing when my chicks start trying to fly. Is this really necessary? I would prefer not to clip the wings. We will have a top on the coop run. Recommendations?

You do not need to clip their wings. I have a topless yard for my hens, 6 foot high fence and they do not attempt to fly out. Until recently, we adopted a beautiful Cleo and even tho I clipped her wings-both of them, she can still clear the boundries! (Hee hee)
I do prefer mine to have wing feathers so that if a preditor got after them they have a chance to fly away.
