Cloacal Exam

I have an egg bound hen. I have tried calcium and warm baths. How do I give the exam. Im not sure what to do with my finger...

Put on gloves,lubricate finger and insert finger into vent,go slow and careful,you are feeling for an egg or broken egg.

I can touch the outside and feel the egg. That's why I was asking what to do with my finger. Do I go down and curve up or up and over?

You need to find the opening to the repro tract, then you should be able to feel the actual egg shell and maybe wiggle the egg a little.

Ten Chicks provided and excellent link in your other thread, study that.

One thing I tried a couple of times was inserting a catheter tube into the repro tract and I squirted lube in it, but one would need a tube and would have to be able to find the opening for that to work.
