Being 2 years into this chicken thing with nary a problem. This morning out doing the routine, throw some scratch in the penned in area, pop the entrance door, say good morning and pop the chicken door and out they go. Go inside check for any early bird eggs, check the feeders and water. Help the lazy butt Buff down of the roost, think she waits for me now. Go back outside closing the door and hear a whole host of commotion more than this my space commotion. I look here comes ol' Mr Fox chasing the girls from the outside of the fenced in area until he sees me,turns tail and runs down the driveway then stops staring back at me. Had I had a gun I would be posting a picture of his tail nailed to the coop. Any way I am locked and loaded waiting his return, with a .22 up the house for a long range shot and 20 ga. loaded with 00 buck for close encounters.
With all of this I must mention while I know it was a Red Fox but was almost honey blond in color, talking the color of a BO. A handsome fellow he was and large in body for a fox is why I assume it was a male. Not to mention at one point was less than 15ft from me running down the fence line. I am simply amazed that this was my first problem but not really a problem but could be one.
