Closed!! 2011 Spring Seed Swap

Do you have problems with squash vine borers in your area? They will kill a pumpkin plant.

I don't think so. We actually had some butternut squash growing at the same time not far away and they were fine. (Not sure if that matters or not.) The pumpkin plants looked great, until they just died. I never saw any sign of insect problems.

Are you all saving your seeds for next years swap? Its only a few months away

Stevenson my pepper plants all did pretty well. I think they were all too close to have not cross polinated so I'm not sure what seeds I'll keep from them. The tobasco peppers are so tiny but pack such a punch!!

It may have been me but I can remember for sure. I think I remember making up some packets with several different kinds of gourds/squash. When people requested certain things, if I had them, I tried to send a little variety.

LOl that was supposed to be GOLD not OLD....

We got a bunch of what looked like zucchini to start with, grew to the shape of spaghetti squash and then turned orange like a pumpkin.

We were trying to figure out if it is was cross pollination issue or something we were growing on purpose

I just found my seeds!

We moved over the summer so I didn't plant a garden.

:lau when I found the squash packets.

Anyway, to answer the orange squash questions:
I have a packet with Spaghetti Squash AND Butternut squash in the same baggie. If you didn't sort your seeds out, and planted them together, you will have created a new hybrid. Better watch out for Monsanto!

We had a bunch of volunteer pumpkin and gourds come up. And mom got confused again about which pot had which squash in it. (we had this issue last year with cucumbers and zucchini)

Suddenly we had a bunch of "zucchini" grow fast and big same shape as spaghetti squash only green like a zucchini...then they turned orange.

So are they gold spaghetti squash? Cross pollinated pumpkin-zucchini or ????

(the neighbor on the other side of the two garages-we had pumpkins on our side of their garage ended up with similar looking "zucchini" and just tore out all their vines. I am thinking our pumpkins might have pollinated their squash...lol
