Our chickens will not be free range birds. We are making the run and coop as predator proof as possible. Do we need to close the coop doors each night when they go to roost?

If the run is as predator proof as the coop then, no, you don't need to close the coop to run door. I haven't closed mine in over 5 years.
I just close and secure the human doors and do head count every night.

I do not close my coop doors. If it is made predator proof then you do not need to close them. The only time I feel the need to close my doors is when I am building onto the coop or the run.

Of course you need to close the door to the run.

I have not had any problems with my coop door being open since I have had my predator proof run. (Knock on wood)
