Closing vent

A bad thunderstorm is coming. My husband thinks we should close the vent window for like an hour or so till it passes. Is that safe?

How much ventilation is available if you close it up?

On very rare occasions I get sideways rain or snow that's bad enough to warrant closing a few windows, however I'm sitting at around 3 sq ft of ventilation per bird, so closing up a couple windows for a day isn't an issue.

Yeah, I'd leave it open unless rain/snow was going to get in somehow. But I don't think it'd be really harmful if it's for a short while.

You might consider making a cover for it that you can prop open for those days when you get sideways rain/snow.
