Hi everyone, I'm finally joining after a couple months of stalking BYC.
Just got my first 3 chicks in April. A Barred Rock, Ameraucana, & RIR
The loveliest ladies in the world!

I definitely wanted to keep them for their antics as well as their eggs. I thought if any of them turn out to be a rooster, I'd be ok with him going into the stew pot. But I really can't now. Call me a softy, but they really have such wonderful quirky personalities!

I have a small lot just outside of Portland OR.
Looking to connect with other funny folks here & share info & stories!

Welcome from Northern California!:welcome

Lots of useful information and knowledgeable chicken people here as I'm sure you know. :)
I started off with 6 pullets from Tractor Supply this past spring. I joined BYC soon after that, and now I have 6 gorgeous laying hens...and I just ordered 15 more pullets from Cackle Hatchery! Beware! Chicken math is real! :lau

Welcome aboard! :frow
We are glad you joined our flock.

Did you and your flock survive the heat wave, @peckpeckpeck ? Finally broke enough tonight we could shut down the a.c. and open up the windows on the house!

Aw thanks everyone!
Yes the girls & I survived. I'm amazed at how adaptable they are. They were still panting in late afternoon, but were really good about finding ways to keep cool.
It still cracks me up to see them dust bathing! Then when they were doing it in a muddy patch today, I was on the ground laughing!
