Clucking?

Today I was cleaning out my 4.5 week olds' brooder and I heard one of them cluck (I think). Is this a normal time for them to cluck? My husband got very excited. I wanted to use it as a prod to get him to finish the coop but it was his birthday so I let it go... for now. Anyway, I am now wondering when chicks start to cluck instead of peep and chirp. I will miss their little lovey noises. I especially love their coos, will those stop completely? Sorry if this seems a little silly or sentimental but they just grow up so fast... (at least my husband has given me the okay to get some blue orpington chicks if I can find them, I never thought he'd give in to me getting more ).

My 7 week olds still havent started clucking... Sounds kinda young to start but they are like kids in some ways ..Each one is Unique

Ive had a chick or two that clucked once in a while even at a few weeks old. Some of them just like making that noise I guess... lol. They didnt do it ALL the time, just when excited or fussing.

I don't have a clue where I saw it, but I remember an article about the 16 different words or sounds in adult chicken language. Some claim to have identified more, although these may be combinations of the 16.

These birds are living animals with distinct personalities. There is no telling what one specific one might do. Part of the fun.

My current chicks beep a lot more than my BR ever did, and they whirr, which is very different. My BR clucked around 5 weeks occasionally, and one of them honks as an adult. They all sound completely different to me, and I can tell who I'm holding by her voice and intonation...but I'm that kind of chicken mom...!

It's nice to have a common language, so use the same words to greet them and to treat them, etc...they aren't as dumb as people think!
