Clucky hen help

While a hen is broody, she doesn't see the cage as a jail because she has no desire to move. Once the hormone flow is broken, she wants out and I open the cage.
Our family has raise chickens here since the mid 1800s. Our henhouse of 100+ leghorns had about 5 broody jails hanging from the ceiling. Seems like there was always a bird or two in there. The rest of the time they free ranged in the orchards. That's just the way we did it and it always worked - and still does.
There's many ways to do animal husbandry. Whatever works for you is great.
