Congratulations, Mary Louise! And, welcome to BYC

Your newly-laying pullet will probably lay an egg even if it isn't in that exact spot that she's made. Is there a nestbox close by or can you put something there that she can use for a nest box?
You may need to help her get comfortable with the idea of using a box rather than the litter. Just start picking her up and sitting her in there. She'll appreciate finding a better place to make a nest.
An egg on the floor isn't a very good idea. It will be a bad thing if your Wyandottes decide that the egg might be food and start pecking at it. Usually, the nest is treated as a sacred place and the eggs are safer there
