Clutch under hen due to crack in two days!

We moved her and the four babes. put up wood around the coop to offer more of a feeling of security. Coop is all around hardware cloth and very safe.
Fingers crossed.

I've heard that momma can eat the chick feed no problem.... and that's the best way to insure that the chicks don't eat the layer pellets.

Mama and babies well this morning. One egg did not hatch. How long before I should take it out?

Congrats, what cute chicks!
I waited 23-26 days or until she was done sitting to remove the egg. As for the ramp I'd just enclose them inside your portable coop and let them get a little more steady before opening the ramp up to them, it's a little steep. I have a ramp similar to yours and my chicks didn't try using it until they were about a 1-2 wks old.
I also feed my hen chick starter (medicated feed) it's fine for them.

Congrats! Once Momma steps away from the egg - just take it away. Just thinking about yours makes me anxious for mine to hatch out. I've got another week.
