So I live on the central coast of North Carolina. It gets pretty hot here and it's VERY humid. Goes below freezing a handful of times a winter, and rarely snows. I'm wondering if it's too hot for some of the big fluffy birds like Buff Orps or Austraorps or Cochin, etc. What says BYC? Anyone have them in similar climates?

Australorps were developed in Australia, so they can definitely handle heat. Hatchery sourced Australorps are really very large at all. Mine are the smallest birds in my flock, at about 4.5 to 5 pounds. Cochins and Buff Orpingtons tend to not be very heat tolerant at all. Wyandottes, Welsummers, or Marans might be a better choice.
