So my 24 week polish, which is my profile pic, has been standoff ish all day. She has not started to lay yet. Shes mildly puffy and only pretends to eat when I she knows I am around. When I first got my flock of 9 we lost 4 to coccidosis. I treated with corrid and we were left with 4 hens and a rooster.
The rooster today had a foamy yellow poop..I watched her poop it was tiny. Felt her croop and it felt empty..felt for an egg and didnt really feel anything in there. Am I correct in thinking the could have gotten a different strain of cocci..its been pouring the last 3 days! I started corrid again, just incase. Anyone have any advise? I'm going to get her wrapped up in a towel and quarrentine her now.

Yes start the corrid. If that doesn’t help, could be enteritis which you would need Neomycin from a vet. Vitamin B complex is a plus to give and probiotics. I saw at tractor supply you can get Vitamin B complex paste and it’s for all species of animals. They sell the injectable kind too.

Thank you! My vet out here "doesnt really waste time on chickens" and my regular vet knows nothing about them. I gave them some yogurt today trying to entice her to eat it. I'll look for the B thank you! I bought ivermectin to deworm but never got to it so I was thinking maybe it was worms. But with as she was acting cold, even though it is chilly here I figured I would just start the corrid.

Always keep Corid on hand from now on.
This video will explain why:
Coccidiosis video worth watching

Good job starting the Corid.

I'm glad you said that about the B!
Thanks for the dosing also. I just gave them a 1/2 tsp in a half gal bc I wanted to hurry and treat them and the 1/2tsp was sitting with it. I'll up it!
Do you have the liquid or powder?
Do you know that you can give the very ill ones a "boost" by giving them a "drench" dose straight to the beak?

Yes I have the powder. It was a large bag so I should have it for atleast one more bout of it. I used a children's medicine dropper to give her some until she started spazzing. She was taking it on her own. Tried to get her to drink but she was huddled with the rest and did not want to be disturbed. She had a few ml from the dropper. I'll watch the video! Thanks:)
