cochin bantam and new rooster

Hey guys i got one question.few days bck i got new white bantam rooster which is going through molt it does crow as well its female died few days bck.now 2 days ago i got new female with him that is already laying eggs.but my roo performs coirtship with her but shows no intrest in mating.should i keep on collecting her eggs as they were fertilized by the other male???? Will they hatch? Why my roo doesnt try to mount her??? He did prepared nest for her..
