I had a rooster years ago that was mostly a bright golden color, but his bottom half was a light brownish/grey. His only offspring was a mostly black pullet with a red head when he was crossed with a red hen, if that is helpful sorting it out.
What combination of colors might he have been? I thought he was gorgeous!
