Hi! I just joined your beautiful community. I recently hatched some cochin bantams. The first one hatched on day 4 of putting them in my incubator. It's the gray one who is now 3 weeks old and has a lot of feathers. Since he or she was so early, we were it's only source of entertainment and learning. We are incredibly fond of this baby and would love to know if you have any guesses of what it might be (pullet or cockerel). We will keep him anyway. It's a very friendly chick who adores his bear plushie.
Now another chick has been born last sunday but it cant open it's right eye fully. It came out of the incubator like this, he was the first born of the "on schedule chicks". And was two days early. We did have issues with humidity. Ive tried to wipe it open with a wet coth but to no avail. He also doesn't seem to mind anymore, in the first two days he was scratching it. He opens it only halfway if he thinks you're not looking. Ideas anyone?
Thanks!
PS, the gray one doesn't have a name just yet, so if you have good ones, tell me!
