Crossing with a recessive white generally has unpredictable results & puts recessive white into ones birds. Usually the only time one would cross another colour to a white would be if one needed to improve type & the white was exceptional.

Crossing a lavender to a black, presuming the birds have the usual genes for those colours, ought to give all black offspring in the first generation. The offspring would all be carrying one lavender gene (recessive). If crossed back to a lavender the offspring from such a mating, all things being equal, would give in the region of 50% lavender offspring 50% black.

That isn't a lavendar bird. It is blue, Blue and black mottleds ("mottled" I would change your title on your byc page to spell the variety correctly) can be bred together to produce blue and black mottled. Your birds are definitely a whole lot better than hatchery stock but would not do well in a large show. You absolutely have a great start and I would find some birds with excellent type to cross yours with. Those kids won't be able to say a word this time next year. Good Luck and don't let a sore loser spoil your good time!!

eta: your black hen all the way to the right of your page seems to be your best bird considering type but she definitely lacks in color. The mottled gene should show black and white in equal parts throughout the entire bird.

Dont worry about those negative folks. If you keep up showing you will improve with both stock and confidence. And one day, when you walk into a show, they will just pack up their birds and leave, because they will know the competition has arrived!
