Can I cage one bantie cochin hen with a roo or do I need to keep them separated except for 'dates'? Will she be totally over taxed by her lover or will it work out?

I am trying to limit the number of cages we have to come up with and the number of water and feed containers that have to be filled and cleaned every day.

You can give it a shot and see how it goes. It really depends on your roo. He could be a gentleman or a total jerk!
If you notice the hen missing feathers on her back, she is being over bred. She will probably be missing some feathers on her head- That is normal.

I have my silkie roo and girl together in one place... she is a bet over bred though. Was fine till just before molt, and she still looks like a mess! The roo is fairing a bit better though molt but he looks like a mess too. Depends on your roo really.

I have 3 roos and I am going to try her with the 2 nicer ones and see how she fares. I am hoping to add a couple more hens - do you have any young ones perhaps. I guess we'll have to see how we go. The one roo is going to be soup because he is plain mean to everyone. He was a late maturer and now is a total jerk all round.

I have all my cochin hens in with the roos I plan on breeding them with.I did have a Millie D`Uccle roo that I had to rehome cause of him being mean.Everytime I would walk past his pen he would try and fight me or even when I was gathering the eggs from that pen.I put a Mottled Cochin roo in the millie D`Uccle hen after I rehome my roo.
