1) What type of bird , age and weight? 3 years, 3 pounds? frizzle black cochin.

2) What is the behavior, exactly. when I first founf her, she was yellowish in the face, not moving much, and hanging her head. she has been this way for about 4 days and I don't know what's wrong with her. she hasn't layed any eggs so far so I was thinking she was eggbound. she is not sitting in a bowl of warm water, breathing heavily. and looks like she tries to push every now and then.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 4 days

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? nope

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. nope

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. all that I can think of is the cold weather and rain.

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. she doesn't eat or drink that much, but the only thing she will eat a lot of is scrambled eggs. and water

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. she hardly poops at all. but when she does, it's watery and not that much "brown" mixed in with it.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? sitting her in hot water, and putting her under a heatlamp.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? home treatment.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use. pine shaings

She could have a respiratory illness. That will cause them to stop laying as well. I would start her on duramycin if you hear any kind of rattle in her breathing, just in case she isn't eggbound. With all the wet weather birds tend to have respiratory issues more often, nold will grow and irritate nasal passages, they can aspirate if they are out in it or any number of things. I'd get her some antibiotics as precaution. also give her some apple cider vinegar in her drinking water. I hope she responds to treatment soon

I'e been listening closely to her breathing and she don't seem to sound congested or anything.

Get a pair of plastic gloves or even a baggie if you don't have gloves. Cover your finger and lube it with vaseline, K-Y jelly or oil. Gently insert your finger into the vent and see if you can feel an egg. If you do then she is egg bound. If she is look up egg bound on the site. A lot of good information. If she is not egg bound come back to the forum and let us know that she isn't.
