There will, most likely, be a mille fleur cochin show in 5 years. Cochinman2005 here on BYC is the head dude on the cochin committee and gave the info. to me. I hope I am repeating it correctly. There must be at least 50 birds at this show exhibited by at least 5 breeders who have been working on the variety for 5 years. That is why the show will be held 5 years from now as he (cochinman) and other reputable breeders as well as a small army of backyard breeders have begun this project recently. These exhibitors will have to sign an afidavit (sp) swearing that their birds breed 100% true and meet the criteria for mille fleur color as well as bantam cochin type before being accepted by the APA.
Im very excited to be apart of it. I remember checking out different breeds at shows and online and almost going for belgium d'uccle as I just loved loved loved the intense color. But, I caved to the bantam cochin type. Their popularity is ever increasing and I know why. With this new color, I believe I've found the perfect fowl... though I do love my rosecombs too. Totally different but just as striking.
