cochin foot feather question?????

I was looking at my little cochins feet and his pin feathers that are coming in seem really thick. At the base of hie feathers his feet are red. Is this normal? Or should I be concerned?

In order for the feathers to grow they need blood. The chicks feet are red because of all the blood. The feathers on my cochin chicks' feet are large. The quill will need to be large also. So, it appears to me that it would be normal.
