I need a quick fix for this.

I've thrown her out of the chicken house, and chased her around the yard. We've blocked off the boxes for a short period of time as well.

I don't know what to do. She just sits in there - usually, not even on eggs - and it doesn't matter which box she gets to first.

PLESE help.

Yep, broody! Either give her some fertile eggs and let her sit, wait it out, or do a search for "breaking a broody" There are LOTS of threads on it. I sure wish one (or more) of mine would decide that it's time to hatch!!

I cant tell if you know this or not but shes broody. its hormonal. It takes maybe 2,3,4,5,6 months for her to get off. Usually 2. There is a fix to stop it in a week, put her in a wire hage (w/ water and some food) and put her in a very well lighted spot.

P.S. I would do some research on broodiness its quite interesting, maybe youd consider some new chicks

Yeah. As much as I like her, I'm actually tempted to see about getting the poor thing another home. I just can't stand this! She just sits in there.

But wait.....I wonder if this means she'd be any easier to show?

I'm actually worried she's going to kill herself, just sitting in there. Her comb is so pale.

I don't want to spend any money on some eggs, as she wiped out the last batch, and I'd rather practice the skills myself. She pushed 6 of the 12 eggs out, then we disturbed her, and she just left the nest period - and those were gonna be my first banties!

I doubt mom would allow me to have ANOTHER chicken in the house, as our sussex girl Holly is sick right now! And I'm using the only wire cage I have for her in the house.....

I guess I'll set up the brooder box again.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I never, EVER think to research before I post

Wow! I didn't know broody-ness was hormonal!

That's interesting.

Yeah absolutly nothing to worry about :) Just throw her off once a day so she eats and drinks :)
